Antonio Ruberti

Antonio Ruberti (1927-2000) was one of the founding fathers of Control Theory and of Systems Theory in Italy and one of the internationally best known scientists in these fields.

In 1969 he founded CSSCCA, the Center for Control Systems and Automated Computing of CNR ("Centro di Studio dei Sistemi di Controllo e Calcolo Automatici") and was its Director until 1980, when CSSCCA became IASI.

Ruberti was Dean of the School of Engineering (1973-1976) and Rector of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (1976-1987), Minister for University and Research of the Italian Government (1987-1992), Deputy at the Italian Parliament (1992-1993, 1996-2000) and EU Commissioner for Science, Research, Development and Education (1993-1996).
