This volume contains the Proceedings of the Rome Jubilee 2000 Conference taking place at the Engineering Faculty, University La Sapienza of Rome, Italy, on September 11-14, 2000. The papers cover a wide area of transportation and logistics problems, the presentation of new methodologies and approaches, mathematical models and computation algorithms, applications to test cases, as well as the European Projects results and the specific contributions of Artificial Intelligence techniques to transport management, presented in the ERUDIT Tutorial. Special publications will be organized containing a selection of the full papers submitted after the Conference to the refereeing process, performed by the International Scientific Committee of the Conference. We would like to thank all the participants and the contributors as well as the Scientific and Organizing Committees for their efforts in making the Conference to a successful end. Moreover, we are very grateful to the National Research Council of Italy for the financial support and also to the other Roman Institutions and Agencies involved in the Conference, in particular the Engineering Faculty, University La Sapienza of Rome for the logistic support to the Conference. The scientific sponsorship of the EURO, the Association of the European Societies of Operations Research, and the International Federation for Production Research has been also essential for a qualified Conference.
