Intuitive minimal abduction in sequent calculus

ABSTRACT

Some computational issues on abduction and generation are discussed in a framework of the first order sequent calculus. Starting from revisioning the meaning of a "good" abductive and/or generative solution, we present abduction and generation algorithms based on a complete natural reduction system. Instead of using Skolem functions, a term-ordering is used to indicate dependency between terms. An abductive and/or generative solution obtained by our algorithms is meaningful and "minimal" with respect to the current reduction procedure.
