Many-source databases: some problems and solutions.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to summarize some issues of numeric databases that are fed by two or more data sources. It emphasizes the issues connected with the use of different classifications and proposes that data definition languages be extended to allow the specification of the classification systems employed. Correspondence graphs are an effective tool for relating alternative classifications and solving a certain number of problems (matching, merging, interaction, compatibility and derivability).
