Optimizing flows and resources in a flexible production system

ABSTRACT

This paper focuses on Job Shop configurations for the manufacturing of Printed Circuit Board, produced in limited unitary quantities. The goal of the study is to design a plant in terms of productive flows and to optimize resources relative to Work Centers, given the process technological restraints. To this purpose Multicritera Analysis and Response Surface Methodology are sequentially applied. The first method defines a project with the highest level of performance with respect to a multicriteria function and, for that project, RSM determines the best configuration of each center, with reference to a simple cost function.
