Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare, progressive and chronically debilitating disease gaining scientists and clinicians attention for 200 years and with incidence rising by 30-50% by 2030. ALS has no cure and efficacious treatments are badly needed, together with insights into pathology. The key aim of our project is to validate in ALS Drosophila and mice the efficacy of no customary ALS drugs recently identified by exploiting a network-medicine-based algorithm for drug repurposing.
